Joining the ranks of some of the most prestigious properties worldwide, the chic and sophisticated 64-room Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada has been accepted into the esteemed Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) collection.

The 64 Suites set on 3 miles of white sand beach at Grand Anse, will feature clean lines, a spice palette, rich woods and textures, and an eclectic mix of temporary and traditional pieces. 17 of the suites have their own private swimming pools and some suites have whirlpools. Many of the suites are located right on the beach, the rest around the lovely gardens.
Grand Anse is a lively beach with an abundance of watersports such as Jet-skis, Water skiing, Windsurfing, parasailing, and kayaking.

As Caribbean leader in environmentally friendly practices, Spice Island Beach Resort has taken the initiative of making the resort completely smoke-free from December 2008.

The resort offers a luxury Spa and Fitness Centre, tennis, bicycles, and complimentary green fees at the course which is located 3 miles away. Should you wish to go and explore the Spice factories that Grenada is famous for, then a car hire can be arranged. Don’t forget to also visit the rainforests.

Spice Island now welcomes children of all ages throughout the year, supported by the brand new children's club The Nutmeg Pod.

Spice Island Resort has achieved Green Globe 21 Certification in recognition of its efforts to protect and preserve the environment. The property is the first hotel on the island to be Green Globe certified. It has earned the AAA Four Diamond Award 2004 for overall excellence, and is holder of the 2004 Most Outstanding Resort Award.

NON-SMOKING POLICY: The non-smoking policy includes all 64 suites and the following designated areas: Oliver’s Restaurant, Sea & Surf Bar and Lounge, Residents’ Lounge, Reception Lobby, Gatsby Boutique and Janissa’s Spa and Fitness Center.

This policy does not make Spice Island Beach Resort a “non-smoking” resort; smoking will be permitted in the open courtyard, on the pool terrace, bandstand and any other open areas at the resort.

A private stretch of powder-fine sand is captivatingly framed by 32 beachfront suites featuring breezy exterior terraces and private lawn gardens. Presiding over these golden sands are the new Cinnamon and Saffron Suites. The lazy hammocks on the private porches of these elegant one-bedroom suites allow guests to languish in the spice-scented breezes. Custom-furnished, and available as one or two-bedrooms, these are a beach lover’s dream.

Seventeen additional pool suites have their own private swimming pools and gardens just steps away from the ocean. The Royal Collection, Luxury Almond and Anthurium Pavilion Pool suites are all private oasis that offer our guests an intimate experience like no other. With modern luxuries such as flat screen televisions, Italian Frette™ Linen, Molton Brown® amenities and en-suite bathrooms featuring whirlpool tubs and double vanities

All rooms have a balcony or patio, air conditioning, ceiling fan, LCD television, DVD, CD clock radio, telephone, mini-bar, tea/coffee-making facility, safe, private bathroom with whirlpool bath, iron and ironing board. All rooms also feature Frette linen, bathrobes, slippers and Molton Brown amenities. Our Cinnamon and Saffron Suites, Royal Collection and Luxury Almond pool suites now feature bedside I-Pod docking station/clock radios.


• Oleander Ocean-view/Garden Suites include living rooms and breezy balconies or patios tucked away in lush tropical gardens.


• Sea Grape Beach Suites lie directly on Grand Anse Beach and contain ocean-view tubs in addition to an elegant living area and private garden with chaise lounges and a double hammock.


• Anthurium Pool Suites welcome you through a private entrance into a personal garden enclosing your own plunge pool.


• Luxury Almond Pool Suites offer a 16-by-20-ft swimming pool and private outdoor dining terrace.


• Royal Collection Pool Suites feature private gardens with 16-by-20-ft swimming pools and outdoor cedar saunas. These suites are also complete with living rooms and marble bathrooms.


• The Saffron and Cinnamon Suites encompass more than 1400 sq. ft. of ultimate luxury. Located directly on the beach, these suites feature a separate living area and dining room, wet bar, a master bedroom with floating canopy bed, two bathrooms and extended private gardens with double chaise lounges and hammocks.

A recent addition to these premium suites are, a 42” LCD television with the Bose Lifesyle Home entertainment System in the living room and a bedside I-Pod Docking Station/ Clock Radio.

Guests staying in a Royal Collection, Cinnamon or Saffron Suite at Spice Island now have access to a Special Services Coordinator who will ensure that guests enjoy luxury and comfort and a supreme standard of service during their stay. Upon check-in, guests will be given a personal contact at the resort along with a direct internal mobile number for that person to use during their stay. The Special Services Coordinator will be available daily from 7:30 am - 10:00 pm and can handle requests for even the most discerning traveller.

The 1,500 sq. foot Royal Collection Suites are the epitome of royal elegance with a Cedar Sauna and a 16'x 20' foot swimming pool set amidst spice scented gardens. The super-elegant 1,440 sq. feet beachfront Cinnamon and Saffron Suites are situated at the edge of the Caribbean Sea and feature a romantic canopy bed, spacious living room with a wetbar and dining area set for six. Further enhancing amenities found in their luxury suites, Spice Island Beach Resort has added new BoseÒ Lifestyle Home Entertainment System and iPod Docking Stations to these luxury suites.

Oliver's Restaurant is reserved for guests over the age of five (5) years old during the season, (December 15th to April 30th). Children's Menus are available and early dining (6:00 pm) is an option that can be arranged with our Chef.

No shorts, jeans, athletic wear, or running shoes are permitted for either gentlemen or ladies in Oliver’s restaurant and gentlemen are not permitted to wear sleeveless or jersey/T-shirt vests or tops. Jackets or ties are not required. Feet must be covered at all times in the dining areas.

A Green Hotel
Spice Island Beach Resort was the first property on Grenada to be Green Globe Certified in 2004. In 2005, following a brief property closure as a result of Hurricane Ivan, the resort embarked on a massive $12 million rebuilding and renovation project and implemented a variety of green initiatives, including:
• Use of solar rooftop heaters for all hot water needs.
• Use of energy-efficient, compact fluorescent bulbs throughout the property.
• Outside lights on timers.
• Turning off air conditioners when rooms aren’t occupied and encouraging guests to conserve as well.
• Utilizing water from the sea (during the dry season) through an on-property desalinization plant (where seawater is desalinized into fresh water).
• Purification of the main swimming pool and private pools in the Anthurium, Luxury Almond and Royal Collection Suites by the chemical-free Auto Pilot system, which uses salt as opposed to chlorine (the resort has converted more than 295,000 gallons of water).
• Composting and maintenance of a vegetable and herb garden that supplies the kitchen with fresh ingredients.
• Water and electricity meter readings are conducted daily and communicated at morning meetings.
• Use of recycled printer cartridges.
• Use of 100% post consumer paper for company letterheads and envelopes.
• 1.5 gpm aerators installed on all taps in the bathrooms and on some kitchen sinks.
• Reuse of office paper for internal printing and old towels as kitchen and housekeeping washcloths.
